Prepare a fire escape plan and at least two ways to exit from each room . Make sure that windows can be opened during emergency .  Get away from fire and call 911 for help .

 Check out all electrical outlets, wires, and appliances in your home and see if everything is in good condition but remember to be extra careful. Keep away from overloading your outlets with plugs from stereo, TV, PC, etc.  Change all appliances that smell unusual or spark. Also, do not leave your home with clothes dryer on and running .

 Do not leave children unattended with fire.

 Do not smoke in your bed.  Use a deep ashtray. Before throwing the cigarette butts into the trash bin make that you wet it first .
