When most personal trainers begin thinking about personal training insurance, their first thought is usually that they have too many questions and they feel overwhelmed. How large of a policy should they get? Do they really need it? Are they even eligible? These types of questions are normal and understandable, but it’s important for a personal trainer to push through the questions and get a reliable policy in place. The good news is that it’s pretty simple to find out if you are eligible for a personal training insurance policy. The first eligibility factor is age. If you are acting as a personal trainer but are not age 18 or older, you will not be able to get a policy. The second factor is where you get your fitness trainer certification and practice your fitness training. You must practice in the United States to be eligible for personal training insurance policies. You also have to consider who you are employed by. If you are employed by a school, college, or university, you will not be able to be insured as a personal trainer. Lastly, if you train in competitive sports, are a certified athletic trainer, or teach a sport skill, you will not be able to get a personal trainer insurance policy.
